PICTURED:  Campers enjoying pond time as a part of their afternoon activity!

Rocky Mountain was blessed with a bunch of volunteers this summer to help out with support duties and maintenance projects around camp. The first group to visit camp was 50 people large and was made up of a high school youth group from Franconia Mennonite Church in Pennsylvania. This group visited camp during the week of July 1 during the 4th & 5th grade resident camp. The Franconia group assisted with kitchen and housekeeping shifts. They also helped make a lot of progress on some maintenance projects. Some of the projects they worked on included building the foundation for new steps to lower Heidi, fire mitigation for Bobcat Hill, and upkeep to the challenge course which included the addition of two new challenges: Ants on a log and a Trust Walk. A full list of the maintenance projects is included below.

The second volunteer group to visit Rocky Mountain was from the Arling Amish Mennonite Church in Arlington Kansas and consisted of 24 people. The Arlington group visited camp on the week of July 8, which was the first week off from resident camps. They were also a huge help in the kitchen and with housekeeping. Some of the maintenance projects they assisted with were the completion of the lower Heidi steps, re-roofing Columbine (one of quansets on the girls side), and repairing parts of the Chapel bridge rails. A full list of the maintenance projects is included below.

Rocky Mountain wasn’t just blessed with group volunteers but also individual volunteers. Camp welcomed 45 individual volunteers throughout the summer who assisted with all sorts of assignments across camp. The volunteers ranged from current high school and college students all the way to retired people. A full list of individual volunteers is included below. Some volunteers spent their days working in the kitchen while others worked on maintenance projects around camp. Camp also welcomed multiple volunteers who assisted with nurse duties for resident camps. We wouldn’t be able to do the work we so love doing without the assistance of our amazing volunteers, so from camp to each and every one we say a huge THANK YOU!
