PICTURED: As part of the retreat, each participant shared a visual image of their significant life transitions
The Mountain States Mennonite Conference Men’s and Women’s Retreats both returned after a two year pandemic interruption. Women’s Retreat was last held in March of 2020, just as the impacts of coronavirus was beginning.
This year’s Men’s Retreat kicked of the weekend with the annual Friday workday. This year’s project was to begin the renovation of the Emmental showers. To keep the building functioning, the two showers upstairs will be completed in 2023, and the two showers downstairs will be completed in 2024. They have been in place since it’s construction in 1982 and renovation in 2012. As was done in Sky-Hi-View and Eagles Nest, the showers will be replaced with seamless Onyx panels (vs. tile) for the benefit of guests (look & feel) and staff (ongoing HK & maintenance care). Additional lighting and vent fans will also part of the improvements. Special thanks to Peter Conrad, Bruce Kuhns, Mark Miller and Stan Miller for the hard work of removing 1″ think concrete plaster on both walls and ceilings.
Moving from Men’s Retreat Work Day to the retreat weekend, the theme theme was: “Life Transitions” touching on the topics of:
- Personal life transitions (relationships, children arriving/leaving home, loss of loved ones, faith)
- Vocation & Location transitions (job/career experiences, retirement, geographic moves)
Appreciation for al who shared and to Pastor Merv Birky who transitions stories from the Bible as part of life experiences shared. Thanks to the Men’s Retreat committee members Mark Longacher & Jerry Martin for their leadership and multiple years served. Participant feedback from the weekend included the following:
